Things to do in Dubrovnik

Without a doubt, Dubrovnik is a very romantic destination and perfect for a quick get-away for couples, families, friends, or solo travelers. Even a little planning before you go will ensure you uncover the best places and thoroughly enjoy your visit. From tourist spots to off-the-beaten-path ones, here are the best things to do in Dubrovnik. This itinerary helps you plan your trip.

“Walk the City Walls”

The definitive ‘must’ on any visit to Dubrovnik, the medieval city walls are best explored with a full-circuit, 2 km walk along the battlements. Affording ever-changing views out to sea and over the Old Town, they offer excellent photo opportunities. We suggest walking the walls earlier in the morning or late afternoon.

“Visit Lokrum Island”

Beautiful scenery, great nature, unbelievable sights. Travelers are treated to an island that feels truly unspoiled and natural – a rare gem in the modern world! The island has numerous sights to see – a monastery (with Game of Thrones replica Iron Throne and info about filming), and a fort at the top of the island (with stunning views of Dubrovnik Old Town). There is plenty of space to sunbathe on flat rocks, with easy access to the sea. The island is covered in trees and even has a botanical garden with eucalyptus and olive trees. There are several cafes and restaurants for refreshments/food and drinks! The peaceful green paradise is home to peacocks and tame rabbits that roam freely without a care in the world. The arrival and departure to and from the island are organized from the Dubrovnik Old Port. A ferry runs every half an hour.

“Sail with Karaka”

Sail into the 16th century and revive the history with a replica of a traditional ˝KARAKA˝ ship. You may choose different experiences, from Sunset Cruise to Game of Thrones.

Take a Cable Car ride”

The 778-meter journey gives you breathtaking views over the Old City. The upper station has two panoramic terraces equipped with a snack bar,  panoramic restaurant, souvenir shop, and more. The lower station is located above Old Town.

“Explore Peljesac Wine Region and Ston “

Enjoy the Peljesac’s magnificent scenery, sip authentic wines, and Oyster Farm in Mali Ston. Vineyards of the Peljesac are considered by many to produce the finest wines in Croatia. The best-known red wine is Dingac, produced around the slopes of villages Postup and Dingac.

Game of Thrones filming locations

Any true Game of Thrones fan will know that the beautiful city of Dubrovnik in Croatia was the filming location for the King’s Landing in the popular TV series. Many famous scenes such as Walk of Shame, Black Water Bay are located in or near Old Town.

“Enjoy cocktails at Dodo Bar”

Dodo is a small bar built just above the beach offering superb views of the Adriatic, Lovrjenac Fort, and the City Walls. On the edge of the ocean with nostalgic music and sunsets that wake up your spirit and fast-flowing drinks and easy service to put it gently back to sleep.

“Enjoy sunset at Cave Bar”

Hotel More is located on the peninsula of Lapad, a short bus ride from the Old Town. It is a peaceful escape from Old Town. Enjoy the sunset on a day bed near the water or grab a drink inside the cave bar.

“Visit Franciscan Monastery”

Visit one of the oldest working pharmacies in Europe. One thing to bring home is Natural Rose face cream made to a secret medieval recipe at the pharmacy, set inside the 14th-century Franciscan Monastery. Their best-seller, Brachia virgin, comes in a stylish olive-shaped white ceramic flask.
